This week Senator Ossoff worked for us by:
1) Protecting our troops by pressing Trump Administration officials on the Signal chat scandal.
(Tue, 3/25) During a U.S. Senate Intelligence Hearing, Sen. Ossoff pressed CIA Director John Ratcliffe on senior U.S. national security officials discussing sensitive information about imminent military operations against a foreign terrorist organization on an unsecure messaging platform, putting service members and our nation’s security at risk.
During his questioning, Sen. Ossoff pressed Director Ratcliffe on the details of the Signal conversations, to which Ratcliffe repeatedly said he did not recall.

(Fri, 3/28) Sen. Ossoff joined 15 Senators urging the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to hold hearings investigating why some of President Trump’s Cabinet Members and National Security officials were recklessly discussing classified military operations on unsecured devices.
2) Warning that the Trump Administration’s pay cut for prison staff puts public safety at risk.
(Fri, 3/28) Today, Sen. Ossoff warned Attorney General Pam Bondi and Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Associate Deputy Director Kathleen Toomey that their efforts to reduce pay for prison staff threatens the safety and security of prisons amid pre-existing staffing shortages.
Bonus: This story also highlights how Sen. Ossoff has worked with colleagues from the other side of the aisle all year to introduce acts which strengthen security while also protecting the civil and human rights of inmates and staff.
(Thur, 3/27) U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff today released the following statement after Senate Republicans voted to overturn a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) rule and increase overdraft fees for Georgia families.
“Today I voted against Senate Republicans’ bill that allows major banks to increase overdraft fees. Despite my opposition, this legislation passed the Senate. Georgians should be aware that they may face exorbitant fees if a checking account is inadvertently overdrawn.”
In December, The CFPB announced a rule limiting banks’ ability to charge overdraft fees.
4) Condemning the Trump Administration’s continued attacks on the CDC.
(Thur, 3/27) U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released the following statement after the Trump Administration today announced the firings of 2,400 CDC employees.
“The Trump Administration’s war on the CDC continues with more reckless mass firings of thousands. This foolish attack on America’s preeminent public health agency leaves Americans exposed to deadly outbreaks.”
(Wed, 3/26) Today, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock and Reps. Scott and Bishop introduced the bipartisan, bicameral Ocmulgee Mounds National Park and Preserve Establishment Act to establish the Ocmulgee Mounds as Georgia’s first National Park and Preserve.
(Lawmakers successfully passed the bipartisan bill through Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee last year, marking historic progress)
(Tue, 3/25) U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff today urged the Trump Administration to unfreeze Federal support for Georgia school districts.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock urged Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to honor Federal rebates awarded to school districts in Baldwin and Clayton Counties under the bipartisan infrastructure law’s Clean School Bus program, which provides Federal funding to reimburse for the purchase of clean school buses.
Last year, the EPA announced Clayton County would be receiving Federal resources to help purchase 25 electric buses, while Baldwin County would be receiving Federal resources to help purchase six new electric school buses.

(Tue, 3/25) Amid continued attacks to the CDC by the Trump Administration, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is fighting to protect maternal health in Georgia.
Sen. Ossoff and other members of Congress are demanding the Trump Administration provide answers on the reported shutdown of a critical Maternal Health data system at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The group is asking CDC Acting Director Susan Monarez why the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) has ceased operations, leaving states, researchers and medical providers without vital public health data.
